MD of PTP Lands in Finals for National Apprenticeship Award

Jan 23, 2026 | For Businesses, For Providers, General, Provider News

Carolyn Stokes, Managing Director of Performance Through People (PTP), has been named a finalist at the Apprenticeship & Training Awards 2026 in the category Outstanding Contributions to Apprenticeships and Training. Carolyn has spent more than 30 years helping people start or progress in their careers through apprenticeships and has worked with schools, employers, and government departments to make these opportunities widely available.

One of her many achievements was her instrumental involvement in launching a pilot programme in the Midlands that gave over 350 young people the chance to gain real work experience and a qualification. Many went on to secure apprenticeships instead of leaving school without a clear plan. Carolyn has also led projects to tackle skills shortages, such as setting up welding training facilities and bootcamps that have already helped more than 150 people find jobs.

Under her leadership, PTP has supported around 50,000 apprentices and earned top ratings from Ofsted. She is known for spotting talent and helping people progress, with many colleagues progressing under her stewardship such as the current Director of Quality & Curriculum, and former apprentice Frankie Shorter, now a successful lawyer, who regularly returns to inspire others.

Rob Colbourne OBE, CEO of PTP, said:

Thriving SME’s are usually successful due to colleagues that go over and above, something that Carolyn has continued to do over many years, with a focus on improving people’s lives, no matter what their background or ability. She is someone who people naturally want to follow, and we have been incredibly fortunate that she has dedicated decades of her life to this business, with shared values and objectives.

Carolyn’s passion and commitment has changed thousands of lives and strengthened local businesses. Her work continues to make apprenticeships a first choice for people of all ages.
