Skills West Midlands and Warwickshire is bringing employers and training providers together to tackle the region’s skill gap. Using our platform, colleges and other education providers can list training courses and engage with local employers to learn more about their needs. By fostering greater collaboration, we are working to align skills provision more closely with labour market demand.

Our Approach

Strengthening the relationship between local business and the technical education system.

Giving training providers the opportunity to engage with local employers, we are working to revamp the region’s technical skills system, making it more responsive to the needs of local businesses and better equipped to tackle the priority areas outlined in the region’s Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP). Through close collaboration with the plan’s designated employer representative body (ERB), we offer training providers a direct line of contact with local business leaders, with the aim of aligning the skills provision of more closely with real market demand.

One of the main issues identified by the plan was a lack of awareness around the support available to employers from college and other further education providers. By providing a platform for local employers to search for and browse local training providers, we are simplifying the process of finding high-quality technical training, giving providers a direct route to market. Businesses can browse different events, leave reviews and get in touch with registered providers.
