Skills West Midlands and Warwickshire Sponsors Birmingham Tech Week

Mar 4, 2025 | General

Skills West Midlands and Warwickshire (Skills WMW) is proud to be a bronze sponsor of Birmingham Tech Week 2024.

Skills WMW, is a collaboration of further education (FE) training providers and colleges across the region working together to forge links between the regional business community and FE sector.

This is the first time that Skills WMW, part of the Local Skills Improvement Plan with funding through the Department for Education’s Local Skills and Improvement Fund, have sponsored the weeklong event since its launch earlier this year.

Birmingham Tech Week is the UK’s largest regional tech festival and conference, set to attract over 7,500 attendees this week (Monday 21 October to Friday 25th October). With events taking place across the West Midlands, the week will showcase vital discussions on innovation, skills development, and the future of the tech industry.

At the core of Skills WMW involvement in Birmingham Tech Week is a commitment to fostering local talent and aligning skills training with industry needs.

The Skills WMW collective specialises in five in demand industries: Engineering & Manufacturing, Construction, Logistics & Distribution, Net Zero, and Digital & ICT.

Speaking on the sponsorship, Suzie Branch-Haddow, Chair of Skills WMW and Vice Principal for External Development at BMet, said: “Birmingham Tech Week is the perfect platform to highlight our region’s strengths in skills development and workforce readiness.

“We are thrilled to contribute to this important conversation and help businesses access the talent they need to thrive.”

Birmingham Tech Week is a crucial event for businesses, professionals, and thought leaders to come together, explore new trends, and drive forward the future of the tech industry.  Suzie Branch-Haddow added: “Through our sponsorship we can participate in important conversations on how we as FE providers can help to bridge the tech skills gap.  I’m excited for the conversations that will take place this week.”

As part of the event, 1000 swag bags will be up for grabs at the event with Skills WMW contributing some of the goodies being given away.  These give aways will offer practical and memorable reminders of the event.
